Evolution have undertaken several projects to convert garages attached to dwellings into additional living accommodation. This can often be undertaken as permitted development but will sometimes require planning permission. Building regulation approval is always required.
The photographs show a converted garage project. Like many garages, this garage was integral to a detached house in Hove and just used for storage. The Client wanted to utilise the space to create additional living accommodation. Evolution were appointed to undertake design work, obtain approvals and provide construction drawings.
The resultant design relocated an existing wc and removed a section of wall creating a light family space integral with the entrance hall. The existing garage door was replaced with masonry and a new window to blend in with the existing house.
